How to be present straight after school each day?
By now you are starting to think about school for your child. I am sure new shoes have been purchased, uniform checked etc.
One of the most important times to be available for them is just after school. This can be a tricky time for a child with fatigue and emotions of the day still floating around.
Consider:
The first 30 seconds after school aren’t for questions or fixing, they’re for helping your child land.
Before your child hears a single word, they read your face for safety and welcome.
Quiet companionship after school often settles children more than well-intended questions.
Big feelings after school don’t mean a bad day, they usually mean a child who worked hard to hold it together.
When children feel connected first, conversation follows naturally.
Don’t set expectations straight after school. Give them space to transition into the afternoon.
Simply be present in an uncomplicated way.
